How important is Maryland football to the students?

By and large, Maryland football doesn't mean all that much to the students. They'll root for the team from afar, of course, but student attendance at home games is rather paltry and student attendance after halftime at home games is nonexistent. For the past few years, the biggest impact Maryland football has had on students is significantly inconveniencing them with construction on Cole Field House, the team's new indoor practice facility on campus. Of course, winning would likely change all of this, but for now, most Maryland students are lukewarm at best regarding the football team.
