Illinois’ 400-meter relay team qualified for the NCAA championships for the fifth time this decade. Staff writer SCOTT RICHEY caught up with four of the fastest Illini on campus before they left for Austin, Texas. The Illini will be action at 6:32 p.m. today in the relay semifinals.

What's your first thought out of the blocks and your last thought crossing the line?
First thought is probably just put the power down and try to stay in drive phase longer. Crossing the line, it's more of focusing on my finishing that portion of my race.
