ST. JOSEPH — All 40 rounds of the Major League Baseball First-Year Player Draft eventually concluded Saturday night.
Dalton Parker didn’t keep refreshing Twitter on Saturday so the recent St. Joseph-Ogden graduate could see if he was one of 1,216 draft picks this June.
The 6-foot-4, 205-pound right-hander also won’t begin any contract negotiations with an MLB team this week after he went undrafted.
“My advisor gave me a call late Saturday afternoon and said my name probably would not be called,” Parker said. “He gave me a heads up, which was good. I knew for the most part on Saturday I wasn’t going to be drafted, but it was an awesome opportunity for myself and my community.
