CHAMPAIGN — Ryan Pedon, who has spent the last two seasons on the Illinois basketball staff as a special assistant to head coach John Groce, is leaving the program to join Chris Holzmann’s staff at Butler as an assistant coach.
In his new role with the Bulldogs, Pedon will be permitted to coach the players on the court and get be on the road recruiting, two things we wasn’t able to do in his role at Illinois.
Pedon came to Illinois from Toledo where he was an assistant coach with the Rockets for three seasons. Prior to that, Pedon was an assistant coach at Miami (Ohio) for five seasons under Charlie Coles.
