Illinois guard Kendrick Nunn will need eight weeks to recover from thumb surgery, coach John Groce said today.
The junior will undergo surgery on Wednesday to repair a ligament in his left thumb. He was injured during an Oct. 13 practice.
The Illini will open the regular season Nov. 13 against North Florida.
