Nunn formally charged, pleads not guilty

URBANA — A suspended University of Illinois basketball player accused of striking a woman is due back in court next month.

Kendrick M. Nunn, 20, was arraigned Friday afternoon by Champaign County Judge Brett Olmstead on two counts of misdemeanor battery, alleging he hit a 20-year-old woman in her campus apartment Wednesday evening.

The junior guard from Chicago was suspended indefinitely from the team in the wake of his arrest Thursday evening.

First Assistant State's Attorney Steve Ziegler said Champaign police responded to a 911 call from neighbors at the apartment complex in the 500 block of South Second Street who heard a commotion about 5:15 p.
