Lovie lands his first QB

The Illinois football team received its fourth commitment in the Class of 2017 on Tuesday night when in-state quarterback Cameron Thomas from Marian Catholic orally committed to Lovie Smith's Illini.

Thomas is the first quarterback to commit in the class and third in-state prospect, joining Chicago Brother Rice wide receiver Ricky Smalling and Bolingbrook wide receiver Kendall Smith.

Fort Lauderdale (Fla.) St. Thomas Aquinas running back Mike Epstein was the first commit for the Illini in the 2017 class, doing so last August.

Thomas is a dual-threat quarterback at 6 feet, 3 inches and 180 pounds.
