CHICAGO — Dyland Lafond and Alyssa Schneider each recorded an third-place finish for Illinois on Sunday in the men’s and women’s Big Ten Cross-Country Championships, held at the Sydney R. Marovitz Golf Course.
Lafond finished the 8-kilometer run in 23 minutes, 22.4 seconds, leaving him about 10 seconds behind individual men’s winner Matt McClintock of Purdue.
Schneider concluded her 6-kilometer race in 19 minutes, 58.6 seconds, making her one of just three individuals in the 122-competitor event to finish in less than 20 minutes. She was still about 14 seconds behind overall women’s winner Erin Finn of Michigan.
