Garrick McGee, who will turn 43 next week, heard Lovie Smith’s recruiting pitch about 26 years ago. He remembers Smith talking about forging a lifelong bond and in the years since, Smith has been a man of his word. He has stayed in close contact with McGee, a Tulsa native Smith successfully recruited to play quarterback at Arizona State.
