Illinois Golf: Illini Struggle Day One of National Championship

Illinois finished day one in a tie for 17th place. They shot a combined ten-over par as a team. This will need to improve if they want to make it to the match-play portion of the championship.

True freshman Edoardo Lipparelli came into his first National Championship as the No. 5 golfer and didn’t play as well as he was hoping.

Lipparelli started off solid, only bogeying one hole through the first six. But, with two bogeys on the last three holes, he finished the front nine with a three-over, 39.

The back nine was even more inconsistent for Lipperelli.
