According to his post on Twitter, defensive tackle Ryan O’Malley is decommitting from the Illini and opening his recruitment back up.
O’Malley originally committed to the program back in February of this year. He was the second player for the class of 2017 but it looks like we are now down to one, Mike Epstein.
Most recruiting outlets have O’Malley as a 3-star defensive tackle. He would have helped the Illinois defensive line in the future but now it looks like they will need more talent.
The commitment from O’Malley was back on February 25, which means it was before the Lovie Smith hiring.
