In a press release sent out today by the Illinois athletic department, the dedication of the Dick Butkus statue will be Wednesday, October 11. This great event will be open to the public as Butkus’ statue is unveiled for the first time. The event will happen at 2:00 PM CT outside the new Henry Dale and Betty Smith Football Center.
When you think Illinois football, there are always two names that come to mind. The first of the name is Red Grange. He is, arguably, the greatest football player to ever live. Grange dominated with Illinois from 1923-1925.
