CHAMPAIGN — Sunday not only featured hundreds of high school prospects for Lovie Smith and his staff to evaluate at Memorial Stadium, but also a commitment from another in-state product.
Vederian Lowe, a 6-foot-5, 350-pound offensive tackle from Rockford Auburn, committed to the Illini, according to a tweet on Sunday evening from Rockford Auburn coach Dan Appino.
Lowe becomes the fifth commit for Illinois in the Class of 2017 and fourth in-state prospect to commit to the Illini since Smith arrived at Illinois in early March.
Illinois was the only offer for Lowe, who is the first offensive lineman in the class.
