The second home game of Lovie Smith's tenure at Illinois will happen under the lights.
Illinois will host North Carolina at 6:30 p.m. on Sept. 10, with BTN televising the marquee nonconference game on the Illini's schedule.
The game is one of 10 primetime games BTN will televise throughout the 2016 season, but the only one that will feature Illinois.
Illinois lost 48-14 at North Carolina last September before the Tar Heels went on to finish 11-3 last season, falling to Baylor 49-38 on Dec. 29 in the Russell Athletic Bowl.
The game against the Tar Heels is one of three home nonconference games for Illinois, with the Big Ten unveiling a nine-game league schedule in 2016, and is the only nonconference game against a Power 5 opponent.
