CHAMPAIGN — For Nancy Fahey, there is a lot to like about how her Illinois women's basketball team has started the season.
The Illini's decision to push the ball in transition and play at a faster pace has led to increased scoring, with Illinois averaging 83.6 points per game, an uptick of 22.2 points from the previous season.
Consequently, the Illini have had five different leading scorers, with Ali Andrews, Brandi Beasley, Cierra Rice, Courtney Joens and Alex Wittinger all taking turns atop the score sheet.
Wittinger's career-high 32 points in last Saturday's 109-107 loss to Sacramento State was a welcomed sight for last season's leading scorer, who had averaged 12.
