COLUMBUS, Ohio — The Illini needed to place among the top three during Friday night’s session at the NCAA Championships to keep their season going.
Justin Spring’s team did just that, placing third with a score of 432.050, just behind Ohio State (433.400) and Stanford (434.350), but well ahead of fourth-place finisher Iowa (423.250). Friday night’s showing means the Illini advance to Saturday’s team finals at 6 p.m., where they are still in the mix to bring home an NCAA title.
It was a team effort on Friday as Alex Diab led the Illini in the floor exercise with a score of 14.
