CHAMPAIGN — Illinois is making a habit of becoming the first high major offer for some of the state’s top rising sophomores.
The latest to snag an Illini offer on an unofficial visit on Thursday? Perry Cowan, a 6-foot-4 shooting guard out of DePaul Prep.
Cowan started for the Rams during his freshman season and helped lead them to a 15-15 record and a regional title as the No. 2 scoring option behind senior guard Creig Atkins. Cowan averaged 13 points, seven reboudns and two steals per game, earned All-Chicago Catholic League honors and was a News-Gazette All-State honorable mention selection.
