CHAMPAIGN — Illinois got a pair of 2019 commitments the last week of April to push its total to five in the class. Then 57 days passed without any further commitments. Spring became summer.
All-purpose back Kyron Cumby snapped that streak Thursday night. The three-star prospect out of Plano, Texas, announced his commitment on Twitter. He joins a 2019 class that includes four-star athletes Isaiah Williams and Marquez Beason, three-star cornerback Joseph Thompson, three-star wide receiver Bryce Childress and three-star tight end Griffin Moore.
Cumby rushed for 1,425 yards and 19 touchdowns on 156 carries last season for Plano.
