CHAMPAIGN — The United States Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association announced Friday afternoon that Illinois hurdler David Kendziera was its 2018 Midwest Outdoor Track Athlete of the Year.
The redshirt senior was ranked among the nation's best hurdlers throughout the 2018 season, qualifying for the NCAA Finals in Eugene, Ore. in both the 110- and 400-meter hurdles for a second straight season.
He joins teammate and distance runner Jon Davis, the Oakwood graduate broke two school records to won this year's indoor honor, to make it an Illini sweep of the USTFCCCA Midwest regional track awards.
