CHAMPAIGN — Illinois opened a renovated State Farm Center with an ACC/Big Ten Challenge game against Notre Dame on Dec. 2 of last year, with the Fighting Irish ultimately taking an 84-79 decision.
John Groce’s team will reportedly have a chance to even its refurbished-home record against the ACC in the 2016-17 season.
CBS Sports’ Jon Rothstein tweeted Monday that the Illini will host North Carolina State in a Challenge matchup during the upcoming season. The date is still to be determined.
Illinois is 3-0 all-time against the Wolfpack, which finished 16-17 last season. The last meeting came in 1995 in Honolulu, and all three matchups have been on a neutral court.
