MINNEAPOLIS — Crispy chicken. Broccoli casserole. Marble and lemon cakes.
That was on the dinner menu at the Wittinger household on Saturday night.
The family had a few extra mouths to feed.
Twenty-five members of the Illinois women's basketball team, including senior forward Alex Wittinger, took a 30-mile bus ride from downtown Minneapolis after a late afternoon shootaround at the University of Minnesota's Williams Arena to nearby Delano, Minn., where Alex grew up, to have a home-cooked meal courtesy of dad Kevin and mom Ann Wittinger.
All of those foods are Wittinger's "favorites."
For the 6-foot-1 Minnesota native, this weekend is extra special.
