LAS CRUCES, N.M. — Lou Henson isn’t done with basketball just yet.
The winningest coach in Illinois history — who retired in 2005 after 41 years on the bench — on Tuesday was named Special Advisor to New Mexico State’s program by new coach Paul Weir.
“You can take the coach out of the game, but you can’t take the game out of the coach,” said Henson’s wife, Mary.
Lou Henson, 84, was in Champaign on Tuesday to speak to a group of retirees.
