CHAMPAIGN — Leron Black was reinstated to the Illinois men’s basketball team Friday afternoon, putting an end to a 78-day indefinite suspension stemming from his Feb. 18 arrest. The Illini sophomore forward will serve a six-game suspension to open the 2016-17 season, missing both exhibitions and the first four regular season games of the season.
“Leron used extremely poor judgment on the night of Feb. 18,” Illinois coach John Groce said in a statement. “He has taken responsibility for his actions, showing remorse and growing as a person from this situation. He will now begin the process of earning his way back to full status with the team, participating in offseason skill, strength and conditioning workouts.
