Garrick McGee Reportedly Out as Illini Offensive Coordinator

Lovie Smith is making his first big change to the coaching staff after two years on the job in Champaign. According to FootballScoop, Lovie Smith has fired offensive coordinator Garrick McGee.

Garrick McGee was the offensive coordinator at Illinois for two seasons. The 2017 offense struggled mightily and finished dead last in the Big Ten in almost every major statistical category.

UPDATE:

Football Scoop is also reporting that Defensive Backs coach Paul Williams has also been fired.

Williams was initially hired by Bill Cubit, and kept on board when Lovie Smith took over as the head coach.
