CHAMPAIGN — Former Illinois head gymnastics coach Don Osborn will return to the Illini as an assistant after 20 years away from the program, the school announced Monday.
The coaching veteran, who spent the last three years as the Champaign Gymnastics Academy boys’ team coach, will join Illini head coach Justin Spring and newly-named associate head coach Daniel Ribeiro on the staff during the upcoming season.
“Don has over 30 years of experience judging and coaching some of the nation’s top gymnasts,” Spring said in a press release. “He’s a great complement to our current staff, and I am very excited about bringing him on to help take our program to the next level.
