CHAMPAIGN — Former Illinois basketball player Joseph Bertrand was arrested at 1:51 a.m. Saturday by Champaign police and charged with domestic battery.
Bertrand, 25, with an address listed in the 200 block of South Wright Street in Champaign, is scheduled to appear at 10:30 a.m. Saturday in bond court.
The Sterling native joined the Illini for the 2009-10 season, redshirting that year after knee surgery. He played from 2010-11 through the 2013-14 season and averaged 6.6 points and 3.1 rebounds for his career.
Bertrand earned his bachelor's in recreation, sport and tourism in 2013 and pursued a second degree in agricultural leadership education during his final season at Illinois.
