MIAMI — Illinois’ pursuit of a big man in the Class of 2017 grew by another player Tuesday night. Gulliver Prep center Victor Uyaelunmo tweeted he had received a scholarship offer from the Illini.
Uyaelunmo, a 7-footer originally from Nigeria, averaged 10.4 points, 11.1 rebounds and 4.1 blocks per game for Gulliver Prep in the 2015-16 season. The Raiders finished the year 14-15.
Uyaelunmo is playing this summer for the Florida Vipers, teaming with fellow Illini recruiting target RaiQuan Gray, a combo forward out of Dillard High School in Fort Lauderdale, Fla. The Vipers play on the Under Armour Association circuit, and Uyaelunmo is averaging 7.
