Illinois junior breaks through in singles
URBANA — Vuk Budic still heads to El Toro to eat when his mom visits from Chicago. Their family’s go-to spot for celebrations is still a favorite when they’re back together.
Budic also still takes the occasional drive through the neighborhood around Bottenfield Elementary to check out his old house.
The Illinois junior, of course, spends plenty of time at Atkins Tennis Center, too. It’s where Budic used to watch his older brother, Stefan, take lessons and play for Champaign Central. And it’s where Budic spent time serving as a ball boy for Illinois men’s tennis, chasing after shots by former Illini like Kevin Anderson and Ryan Rowe.
