Deep ball helps Hawkeyes roll past Illini

CHAMPAIGN — Illinois' top two scorers showed up to the party.

The Illini even had two more players reach double figures.

It still wasn't enough to overcome a high-flying Iowa team.

Too many good offensive trips for the Illinois women's basketball team were accompanied by the ball going through its own basket on the other end of the floor. The 22nd-ranked Hawkeyes turned on the afterburners in the fourth quarter, cruising to an 94-75 victory over the Illini in front of a season-best crowd of 3,019 spectators at State Farm Center on Sunday afternoon.

Mired in a season-long four-game losing streak, Illinois (9-9, 1-6 Big Ten) received a bounce-back performance from Brandi Beasley, who supplied a team-high 21 points, and contributions from Alex Wittinger (20 points), Arieal Scott (15 points) and Cierra Rice (11 points).
