QUINCY — Each week, Christine Lovelace makes the 45-mile drive from the family home in Quincy to the Hancock County Jail in Carthage.
Behind a plate of glass, Christine and two of her sons Lincoln, 17, and Larson, 14, spend 30 minutes on the phone with her husband, former University of Illinois offensive lineman Curt Lovelace.
“We don’t get to be in the same room with him,” Christine Lovelace said. “There is absolutely no preferential treatment for family or wife.”
Curt Lovelace awaits a second trial on charges of killing his first wife, Cory, in 2006.
