CHAMPAIGN— For a program already dealing with a likely season-ending knee injury to wide receiver Mikey Dudek, it looks like Illinois football will have to make due without another one of its playmakers for the 2016 season.
Running back Dre Brown, who was in contention to back up Ke’Shawn Vaughn and play a significant role for the Illini this season, announced late Tuesday night on his Twitter account that he tore the anterior cruciate ligament in his left knee during Monday night’s practice.
This is the second ACL injury for Brown during his time at Illinois. He tore the ACL in his right knee on April 18, 2015, an injury that caused him to redshirt his first season with the Illini.
