EUGENE, Ore. — Kandie Bloch-Jones cleared 5 feet, 10 inches on her third try Saturday in the women’s high jump at the NCAA track and field championships. But that was as high as the Illinois junior would leap.
The Argenta-Oreana graduate’s top height earned her a share of 15th place, improving on her 20th-place showing at the national event last season. It also gave her second-team All-America honors.
Kansas State’s Kimberly Williamson was the top high jumper at 6-2.
The day proved more difficult for Pedrya Seymour, the other athlete representing the Illini at the NCAA Championships.
