Darn it, just when I learned how to spell Paul Kowalczyk's name correctly, the Illinois administrator decided to retire.
Not that someone named Asmussen has any room to talk.
Illinois' Executive Senior Associate Director of Athletics, Sport Administration (that's a keyboard full) is stepping down as of Aug. 31.
Paul and Peg, his wife of 34 years, have already picked out their post-retirement landing spot. They are relocating to North Carolina.
"I'm excited about the future," Kowalczyk said. "Just to see what life's going to bring. What's next?"
Why leave now? Kowalczyk, 60, and Peg want to see more of the world.
