What pops into your head when you read “Mother’s Day”?
Flowers. A box of chocolates. A sappy card. Brunch with the family.
For Illinois football, Mother’s Day 2015 had none of that.
Twitter. Rant. Simon. Player abuse.
Former Illini offensive lineman Simon Cvijanovic started tweeting at 4:04 p.m. on May 10.
The tweets were aimed at Tim Beckman’s program. They were much less than friendly.
“I stopped playing football because of my physical health. I was asked to push myself past pain until I didn’t want to play anymore,” @IlliniSi wrote.
“We don’t talk about how we’re mistreated because we’re then ‘not a team player’ or ‘soft’ but no one pays the bill when we’re gone.
