What has happened to Big Ten football?
A year after going 7-1 in bowl games (thanks, Michigan), the conference has nine bowl ties. And it climbs to 10 if the Big Ten qualifies for the College Football Playoff (thanks, Michigan).
At this moment, seven Big Ten teams have reached the six wins needed to become bowl eligible.
I'm not very good at math, but that leaves the Big Ten at least two teams short.
Why do we care? I will get to that later.
First, the good news: Michigan, Ohio State, Penn State, Michigan State, Wisconsin, Northwestern and Iowa are in.
