Wearing No. 5 means something special for an Illinois basketball player.
Tevian Jones gets it. He understands the significance.
"It's some big footsteps to follow," Jones said. "I think I'm up to the challenge."
The freshman from California by way of Arizona is the latest to wear the number made famous at Illinois by Hall of Famer Deron Williams.
"I haven't met him, but I've watched him play," Jones said.
Williams' game serves as a model for Jones.
"He's a very good ball handler, and that's one thing I'm really trying to work on," Jones said.
