CHAMPAIGN — Parkland College volleyball coach Cliff Hastings noticed a theme when talking to area athletes a few years ago — many of them wanted an area all-star game. Hastings and Parkland appeased, creating the Parkland Area All-Star Volleyball Game, in which 26 area players will play in front of fans and several college coaches at 5 p.m. today.
Of course, a few of those players are already off limits to those coaches. Fresh off a national title, Hastings secured commitments from Centennial’s Alivia Dew and Argenta-Oreana’s Gillian Jones.
Dew is the second in her family to play for Hastings’ team after sister Ayla wrapped up her career this season.
