Alan Griffin was suspended two games by the Big Ten on Thursday afternoon for his actions during the Illini’s Tuesday win at Purdue.

The conference also issued a public reprimand for violating the Big Ten Sportsmanship Policy after he stomped on Sasha Stefanovic during the first half of the game.

Griffin was ejected from the game.

He will be suspended for the Illini’s game this Saturday at Michigan and next week vs. Minnesota.

“After a thoughtful and thorough review of this incident, we are all extremely fortunate this did not create a hostile and unsafe environment for the players, coaches, game officials and fans,” said Big Ten Commissioner Kevin Warren.
