Illinois only had one player selected in the draft on day one. Pitcher Cody Sedlock was selected with the 27th overall pick by the Baltimore Orioles.
Sedlock had a great career with the Illini. He started out as a freshman pitching in 12 games. In those 12 games, he had a 1-3 record with a 3.41 ERA.
The following season Sedlock continued to build on his solid freshman campaign. He pitched in 21 appearances and ended the season with a 4-0 record and a 4.02 ERA.
Sedlock’s junior campaign was by far his best.
