LAS VEGAS, Nev. - The University of Idaho women's golf team is in third and five strokes off the pace of first-day leader Northern Arizona but coach Lisa Johnson believes her team has what it takes to move up the leaderboard.
Some uncharacteristic mistakes - four unplayable lies and two balls in the water, cost the Vandals dearly during the first round - but knowing her team can learn from its mistakes leaves Johnson optimistic.
Seniors Kristin Strankman and Cassie McKinley had the low rounds for the Vandals with 73 to land in a tie for sixth.
