SPOKANE, Wash—The Vandals concluded play at the Gonzaga Bulldog Invitational on Sunday. Sophomore Marianna Petrei swept through the field of the field, going a 6-0 in singles and doubles to win A flights. Idaho also captured the tournament's two other doubles championships, completing the hat-trick.
Petrei, the reigning Big Sky MVP, defeated players from Montana, Eastern Washington to advance to the championship match. She faced Seattle U's Michelle Lui in the finals. Petrei won in three sets, 5-7, 6-4, 6-1, to with the A flight singles title.
Petrei and junior Lucia Badillos swept through the doubles competition to win the A flight doubles championship.
