Following the kick-off, the Vandals and the Bengals went shot-for-shot, each posting four shots in the first half. Making a scoring offensive effort, Karli Yoshida-Williams got two out of two shots for the Vandals, forcing a save from the Bengal's keeper. Neither side was able to execute, despite Idaho getting three of its shots on target.

With a scoreless match going into the second half, Idaho and Idaho State picked up where they left off, neither squad gaining an edge over the other.
