SPOKANE, Wash. – Sophomore Sophie Hausmann and freshman Clara Moyano won both of their first-day matches as the University of Idaho women's golf team went 1-1 Saturday at the Gonzaga Match Play tournament.
The Vandals defeated Gonzaga 4-2 before falling 2-4 to No. 25 Brigham Young University.
"Today was a great first experience at match play in a collegiate event," coach Lisa Johnson said. "we made a lot of birdies and solid pars."
She had praise for the underclassmen victories against Gonzaga. Danika Palm and Moyano both won 6 and 4, Michelle Kim won 5 and 3, and Hausmann won 2 and 1.
