MOSCOW, Idaho – Mia Sylvester has earned the title of Freshman of the Year following a first-place finish in the women's shot put and sixth place in the weight throw last weekend during the Big Sky Indoor Championships.
Sylvester dominated the field at the Indoor Championships, throwing for a personal best distance of 15.75m which is 51 feet and 8.25 inches. The mark ranks first in the Big Sky and 72nd among NCAA Division 1 schools. The next closest mark in the conference is just under a meter behind Sylvester.
Leading up to the Big Sky Indoor Championships, Sylvester competed in the shot put at four events.
