HOUSTON, Texas - Despite having only an occasional opportunity to dive off the platform, University of Idaho freshman Janelle Lucas found her way to winning the title at the Western Athletic Conference Championships.
She not only won, she won convincingly with a score of 278.20 - 32 points better than the runner-up finisher.
Lucas' dive was one of a number of strong individual performances by the Vandals, who finished fifth in the team competition. Northern Arizona won with 807.5 points with four teams - New Mexico State (488), Grand Canyon (466.5), Cal State-Bakersfield (463) and Idaho (441.
