MOSCOW, Idaho – University of Idaho President Chuck Staben named Pete Isakson as interim Director of Athletics, Friday. Isakson, who rejoined the Vandals in 2017 as Associate Athletic Director for Revenue Generation, has been serving as Acting Athletic Director since April.
Staben announced Isakson's appointment will be indefinite, through the remainder of his presidency. He said allowing the next president to select the permanent athletic director is in the best interest of the University, the athletic department and Vandal student-athletes.
"Pete is a talented, enthusiastic and committed leader," Staben said. "We can be confident that he will continue to be an effective and engaged leader with full authority for the athletics department.
