The University of Idaho women's golf team, winners of its last three successive tournaments, is ranked ninth nationally and third regionally after its second-opening victory in the WSU Cougar Cup.
"It is an honor and a tribute to our team and University to be rannked this high early in the year," coach Lisa Johnson said. "We will use this as a springboard for the rest of the season."
Idaho, the 2016 Big Sky Conference champion, shot an even-par 864 at the Cougar Cup. The Vandals continue the fall portion of the season at the Golfweek Conference Challenge next week.
