The Vandals started their first day of competition on a positive note especially after a long day of travel.
Coach Mark Sowa was happy with the team's first day performance.
"After arriving at the hotel at midnight the morning of competition and swimming as well as we did today was really encouraging" Sowa said. "Our 500 freestyles were really solid."
Leah Fisk and Aileen Pannecoucke swam the 500 freestyle and advanced into the finals.
Fisk clocked a 5:03.57 in prelims and dropped her time down to a 4:58.04 during her final swim.
