Friday, the NCAA has decided to address a rule change that would allow for Division I student-athletes in spring sports to participate for an additional year but a decision has not been made on the NCAA granting eligibility relief to athletes in winter sports whose seasons were cut short due to coronavirus concerns.
“Council leadership agreed that eligibility relief is appropriate for all Division I student athletes who participated in spring sports,” according to a statement from the Division I Council Coordination Committee. “Additional issues with NCAA rules must be addressed, and appropriate governance bodies will work through those in the coming days and weeks.
