The NCAA Division I Council officially denied winter athletes an additional year of eligibility.
“Council members declined to extend eligibility for student-athletes in sports where all or much of their regular seasons were completed,” according to the NCAA website.
Spring athletes can self-apply an additional year of eligibility to extend their collegiate careers. Additional roster sports were added to spring baseball, the only spring sport that has a limit on roster spots.
